Coaching for teens and young adults
This is my Niche!

I have been working with teens and young adults for over
20 years. I realized quite some time ago that I become energized
around young people! The vigor and enthusiasm they
have for life truly inspires me!

I began my career working in a residential substance abuse rehabilitation center. This was an eye-opening experience for me! I then taught English in a public middle school/high school setting. I will never forget those students or that experience. In teaching, I realized that I was doing just as much, if not more, counseling and that was the part of my job that I really loved! I then went on to become a school counselor.
I was very happy providing counseling and support services at the middle school level when I was offered a position in an alternative high school, and this piqued my interest. I have always believed that things happen in our lives for a reason, and so I followed this path. I taught for 12 years at an amazing alternative school. I can honestly say that this was an incredible time in my career. I met so many amazing teens and helped each one to the best of my abilities! We became a family! Then tragedy struck my family and I was no longer emotionally available for my alternative students. I needed to move on.
This was when I was asked to consider returning to school counseling. I have now been counseling high school students, grades 9-12 on many topics. These include mental health, crisis intervention, peer pressure, academic support, college planning, and career exploration. Additionally, I spent many years coaching softball, cheerleading, and gymnastics, running girls' groups, and advising for the step-team in my high school.

I believe that teens today are faced with unimaginable stressors. It is far more difficult to be a teen today than it was 30 years ago. My goal in working with your teen is to connect and support them and to help them become very clear about their own individual values, talents, passions and dreams. Being a teenager is lonely and messy. It is a time of growth through mistakes, obstacles and pressure. It can be lonely, frightening, maddening and confusing. Let me help you help your teen. It truly takes a village!
